Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she’s made for herself and realizes that the life she’s always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.
Book Review: ★★★★★
“As he walked across the stage, the light caught on the pin of his lapel, a flash of gold that was similar to the forte signs in my piano music.” – The Selection page 43
I absolutely love the way Cass has written this story. She has somehow gotten my head so absorbed and wrapped up in this world and this book that I couldn’t put it down and when I did, all I wanted was to pick it up again. I’m definitely going to have a serious book hangover.
I really liked how this book was a fast read that I could devour but could still savor the delicious aftertaste it has left on my mind. While I was swept up in the bachelor type story, I was also really intrigued about the rebels and I’m hoping that we will see more of that plot line in the next books.
I love the way Cass has written these characters. They’re each unique and special and well done. I’m intrigued by Marlee and her real reason for staying behind. I adore Maxon and Aspen makes me unsure. I would love to see if there is a huge plot twist with him in the next book.
The best part, I think, about this book is that the story line seems cheesy. But the author has done such a good job of creating this new world and writing three dimensional characters that you just get sucked into the story. You want to know who’s going to win, if Aspen and America are going to be together and what the rebels are after. The story just went by so fast and I can’t wait to start the second book.
“I know it sounds harsh, but this isn’t a game to be taken lightly.” – The Selection page 124
