Book Description: Jade loves the house she’s just moved into with her family. She doesn’t even mind being the new girl at the high school: It’s a fresh start, and there’s that one guy with the dreamy blue eyes. . . . But then things begin happening. Strange, otherworldly things. Jade’s little brother claims to see a glimmering girl in his room. Jade’s jewelry gets moved around, as if by an invisible hand. Kids at school whisper behind her back like they know something she doesn’t.

Soon, Jade must face an impossible fact: that her perfect house is haunted. Haunted by a ghost who’s seeking not just vengeance, but the truth. The ghost of a girl who ruled Jade’s school — until her untimely death last year. It’s up to Jade to put the pieces together before her own life is at stake. As Jade investigates the mystery, she discovers that her new friends in town have more than a few deep, dark secrets. But is one of them a murderer?

I was really excited about reading this book because I’ve been wanting a fun paranormal/mystery quick read. And this book delivered.

The Writing: The writing was simple yet effective. I enjoyed the first person narrative in this story and I think it gave the personal tough needed with this story. I really enjoyed that it was easy to read and made for a nice fast read. I kept reading late into the night without realizing what time it was because I was so immersed into the story.

The Plot: I loved the premise of this novel and enjoyed trying to figure out who had murdered Kayla. I had a few ideas for most of the book and I figured it out at the end but I still enjoyed the journey. Even though there wasn’t many huge plot twists (like some mysteries have) I still really enjoyed this book.

The Characters: I really liked Jade, mostly because she reminded me of a friend of mine. She made a couple not so great decisions but I still liked her as a character. Even though the romance wasn’t necessary to the story I did like that it was there. I also really liked that Harrington added snippets of Kayla’s dairy throughout the novel. It gave us an early insight in to things that Jade doesn’t learn about till the end.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I finished it in a day and enjoyed every minute of it. I will definitely go look into Harrington’s other works. This was a fun fast read and a wonderful paranormal mystery novel. I highly recommend it to fans of paranormal mystery or paranormal YA.
